And so it begins …. The Web is Broken

I have just picked up from our friends at TechCrunch that Microsoft have released the Release Candidate for Internet Explorer 8. As I explained on this post on the Hyro Blog, this has some pretty significant implications for many of the current websites out there. You can get it here.

Apathy is going to catch some companies unawares, while the many others are going to get tripped up by the competence of their web developer / digital agency. The consequences of this are not insignificant – some major website will have their formatting, content and layout “broken” by this new, “standards compliant” browser from Microsoft. Every website that was fudged, kludged, “quirked” or otherwise modified to display neatly in Internet Explorer (from I.E 5.5 to 7) may display incorrectly and/or deliver unexpected results unless you either “force” compliance with IE 7 or fix the code.

You have been warned.
